Having completed the first 9 holes in 2009, construction is well under way on the remaining 9 holes at The Ridge Golf Course in Barden Ridge, NSW, for Sutherland Shire Council.
Turnpoint constructed the first 9 holes in 2009 as part of a 10-year development plan on what was an old tip site covering 104 hectares and includes a driving range, 6 playing fields, 12 netball courts and an athletics track. Turnpoint has been maintaining the first 9 holes since completion and will assume responsibility for maintenance of the full 18 holes.
Course superintendent, Ben Grylewicz, is heading the construction team which includes experienced shapers Lindsay Richter, Robin Gibson, Glen Peck and Kevin Nolan.
“I’m really happy with the progress we have made to date and how the team is performing,” he said. “We have already brought in around 10,000m3 of imported fill to put the shape in and by the time we’re finished we will have used 23,000m3,” he said.
“We are going to solid turf 7.5 hectares of tees, fairways and green surrounds and will seed the greens with G2 bent grass.”
Construction is scheduled for completion in March, 2012.
